No, customers do not have to enroll for this service. MasterCard SecureCode is functioning for all Q debit cards.

Each MasterCard SecureCode transaction is evaluated for risk. If considered higher risk or out of the norm for the cardholder, the transaction may be challenged to protect your card against potential eCommerce fraud. In this case, you will be sent a One-Time Passcode via text message or email and prompted to enter it in order to pass authentication and continue with your transaction. This process helps block fraudsters from using your card for unauthorized eCommerce purchases.

If you are prompted to enter a One-Time Passcode and you do not receive the code, your transaction may be denied. Please contact customer service or your local branch. You may need to update your contact information with your financial institution.

The online purchase process will not change other than you will be required to enter a One-Time Passcode to complete your purchase. If the One-Time Passcode is entered incorrectly, you will be notified during the checkout process if the Authentication failed or if the Authentication was successful.

Most participating merchants will display the MasterCard SecureCode logo on their site. If you don’t see the MasterCard SecureCode logo, the merchant may still be a participant and you will be prompted to provide your one time passcode during checkout.
