What inspired you to start your own business?

After managing retail for my sister for 2 years I decided that I might as well be the owner.

What inspires your work and what sets you apart from everyone else? I love my hometown and work tireless to provide a great service here for others and to promoted other small businesses that are inspired to do the same.

What is your background and how did you develop the skills to start your business?

I have worked for many great companies that specialize in great hospitality.  I also graduated from GC&SU with a business management degree.  My original goal was to be specialized in hospitality.  Now that I own an event venue that background definitely helps a long with preparing me for Retail.

What has been your biggest success to date?

Growing our business enough to work towards owning our building & renovating a piece of history.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Accomplishing a big enough growth to pay the debt acquired by renovating a Historic Building from top to bottom.

Which small businesses are you inspired by?

My sister Lisa McDonald has always been a great inspiration to me.  I was also mentored by the Late Sam Goodrich and other pillars of the community.

If you could go back to the beginning knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

Some days I wonder if I would do it again as it is so hard to build something from nothing.  But, I was always told anything worth having you have to work very hard to gain what’s worth having.

What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start their own business?

Just know going in that it will not be easy and there will be days that you want to give up.  Keep grinding always look ahead and know the long term gain.
