Bill Thompson Promoted to Chief Banking Officer

Queensborough is pleased to announce the promotion of Bill Thompson to Chief Banking Officer.

Thompson has 43 years of banking experience and has been with Queensborough as Chief Lending Officer since 2008. Since then, he has been committed to growing the bank while maintaining exceptional service and staying true to the bank’s hometown roots. Under his management, the bank saw an increase in total assets from $863 million to over $2 billion. Additionally, his dedication to the professional development and mentorship of the bank’s employees has earned the bank recognition of Newsweek’s Best Small Bank in Georgia in 2022 and Great Place to Work in 2022 and 2023. In his new role, Thompson is responsible for managing all traditional banking activities and credit approvals across all bank markets.

Prior to joining Queensborough, Thompson served in various positions in Atlanta, Columbus and Augusta with SunTrust Banks, Inc. He holds a degree from Young Harris College and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emory University.

Beyond his professional achievements, Thompson is deeply committed to community service. He has served as Chairman of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Tomorrow, First Baptist Church, Golden Harvest Food Bank and Westminster Schools of Augusta. In his leisure time, he enjoys tennis and spending time with his wife of 37 years, Pam, son Rob (Kaden), and daughter Becca (Jon).

“Bill has been an integral part of our bank’s success and growth since joining us in 2008,” said Bill Easterlin, Queensborough President & CEO. “His contributions have touched every corner of our organization, driving our expansion and strengthening our commitment to service. This promotion is a testament to his unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership.”

Queensborough congratulates Bill on his promotion and looks forward to many years under his leadership.
