Cattle Farm and Beef Market opened in 1950
What inspired you to start your own business?
This farm has been in my family for several generations, and one of my only desires has ever been to run it. When I graduated college in 2013, I returned to the farm and brought back the name that my grandfather had come up with decades before.
What inspires your work and what sets you apart from everyone else?
My father would be my main source of inspiration to do what is needed daily to make this operation successful. What sets us apart from everyone else is my desire to take this operation to the next level, and to see it succeed for future generations to come.
What is your background and how did you develop the skills to start your business?
My background has always been based around beef production from working with different animal health companies to marketing cattle for other farmers. I have been diversely involved with just about every aspect of this business, and now we have furthered that by selling retail meat cuts to the public.
What has been your biggest success to date?
My biggest success to this date would be to fully market my cattle from the beginning to the end, which would be the supper plate.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge we face are ever changing markets, and constantly finding farm help.
If you could go back to the beginning knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?
I do not know what I could change. For growth there must be adversity. Without adversity I would not be where I am today, So I would change nothing.
What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start their own business?
My advice would be to become a gambler and roll the dice. Times of hardship will be not be fun, but it will never kill you.
