Stewart Young Retires After 35 Years in Banking and Finance

After 35 years in banking and finance, 21 of those with Queensborough, Stewart Young has announced his retirement, closing a distinguished career defined by dedication to his customers, his colleagues, and the Thomson community he has called home his entire life.

Born and raised in Thomson, Stewart is a proud graduate of Thomson High School, Class of 1979. He went on to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia, on a golf scholarship — a lifelong passion that has remained close to his heart both personally and professionally.

Throughout his 35-year career, Stewart built lasting relationships and earned the trust of generations of customers. Known for his steady leadership, strong work ethic, and deep knowledge of banking and finance, he has played a meaningful role in supporting local families and businesses and contributing to the continued strength of the community.

“Stewart’s commitment to both our institution and this community has been unwavering,” said Juddy Johnson, Queensborough SVP and Regional Manager. “His integrity, competitive spirit, and genuine care for others have made a lasting impact, and he will be greatly missed.”

A lifelong resident of Thomson, Stewart is an active member of Thomson First Methodist Church. He also enjoys time at Belle Meade Country Club and Thomson Country Club. Outside of banking, he can most often be found on the golf course, watching his grandchildren play sports, or spending time with family and friends.

Stewart has been married for 37 years to his wife, Lynn Olliff Young, originally from Statesboro, Georgia. Together they have built a life centered around faith, family, and friendship. They enjoy traveling to the North Carolina mountains with friends, taking golf trips, and visiting Florida to spend time with their son and his family.

In retirement, Stewart plans to devote more time to golfing, traveling, and making good on his goal to go fishing at least twice a year.

While his daily presence at the bank will be missed, Stewart’s legacy of service and commitment to Thomson will continue to be felt for years to come.
